An inspirational quote to help you start off the day.

“The world has enough celebrities. It could use a few more saints.”

This is a quote from the book, 101 Simple Secrets to Keep Your Faith Alive – it is indeed quite true don’t you think? The world is always captivated by stars and celebrities who hogs the limelight daily. The media can never get enough of them. We the public can never get enough of them. We love to hear gossips about them, see their pictures in compromising positions and make them our daily topic of discussion.

Take, for example, the media in Malaysia dedicating its front page news to Siti Nurhaliza’s marriage announcement when the day before, tsunami had just ravaged another part of Indonesia. Shouldn’t the scale of the devastation take precedent over something as trivial as a celebrity’s announcement that she is gonna get married to a man old enough to be her father?

We definitely need more inspirational figures and saints who lead by example by dedicating their lives to serving mankind in whatever way. We need more stories on everyday heroes and unsung heroes who put their lives on the line while helping and saving people from a myriad of problems. These saints and heroes are the people who will inspire kids to become good people, not movie heroes who use brute force to make their statements and to have their way.

I believe in this troubled world today, we as a society need to understand what is much more important – the daily lives of celebrities or the contributions of everday heroes and saints?

  1. Amen to that. QFE. Good luck and blessings, Prana
