This page is a list of my DVD collection, of which of very proud of. They are all movies that I love and enjoyed that I have seen more than twice. These films varies from normal kiddie films to exceptional award-winning films and to rare, cannot be found in Malaysia films.
Of course, as I try to be a good Malaysian citizen and since I am an avid film buff, I try my best to buy originals. Indeed, at least 70% of my DVD collection are original DVDs, bought from various shops such as Video Ezy, Speedy Video and Movie Magic. A small number of the DVDs I own are gifts from some of my special friends in America. The rest of the 30% are usually those hard-to-find-in-originals pirated DVDs, mostly films that are banned in Malaysia or rare, never heard of films.
Back in my college days, buying pirated DVDs was the norm for me as I wasn’t financially stable but since I began working and was able to earn an income, I was delighted to be able to set aside a bit of my income to buy original DVDs. Why I like and prefer buying the originals is due to the fact that it contains the wonderful special and bonus features that most pirated DVDs don’t. Those special and bonus features are worth every penny spent on the DVDs.
I’m not going to explain each DVD I have in great length, cause that will just take up tooooooo much time, so I rather link it to places where you can find information about them. I have also colour-coded the numbers to differentiate which one I have is pirated and which one is original. Numbers in Red signifies the DVD as the original product while numbers in Green siginifies that the DVD is a pirated copy.
I really do encourage all of you to buy originals, they last longer, and offers more fun stuff than most pirated ones plus they’re better quality. It’s really well-worth the money.
You can also tell from my DVD collection which actors & actresses I loved most as their names are all bolded. One of the criteria for me when it comes to deciding which DVD to buy is the cast - I have to make sure I love the performances and the actors and actresses before buying them. How the movies did in the box-office is never one of the criteria. I mostly buy them because I loved the film as a whole, loved the cast, love the story, love the acting and I just want to treasure them by adding them to my collection so that I can always go back and revisit the experience of the film. Besides, DVD collecting is one of my major hobbies.
Anyways, enough talk. Hope you have fun browsing through my DVD collection!
